Fresh veg, deliciously affordable

This year’s campaign, Fresh Veg, deliciously affordable, is centered on dispelling the myth that making healthy choices in the grocery aisle is expensive.

Contrary to the popular misconception that fresh veg is more expensive, the campaign aims to show that the cost of seasonal fresh vegetables has actually declined, making them an affordable, healthy and nutritious option

The Fresh Veg, deliciously affordable campaign is in direct response to the National Health Survey 2022 and Consumer Price Index reports released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics:

  • Only 1 in 15 (6.5%) Australian adults eat the recommended daily intake of vegetables

  • 1 in 20 children (aged 2 -17 years) meet the vegetable recommendation

  • 1.5% of children do not eat any vegetables at all daily   

  • Food prices have increased by 4.8% in the past year. The cost of take-away and fast food the main contributors

  • Fresh fruit and vegetables prices have DECREASED by 6.4% on last year

The Fresh veg, deliciously affordable campaign is donated by OMA members as part of the industry’s National Health and Wellbeing Policy.
